We have a new member of the family — Walter. He’s mostly a Bearded Collie, but has some other mixed lineage as well. We rescued him from a shelter in Texas. Bearded Collies, probably much like the Scottish shepherds that bred them originally, has a frock of shaggy hair and a noteworthy beard. This definitely describes Walter.
Acadia National Park
We just got back from a wonderful trip to Acadia National Park. Sarah found a great house to rent in Sullivan Harbor that was previously owned by Hannibal Hamlin!
The weather was great the whole time (just one small rainstorm one morning) and a welcome reprieve from the hundred plus degree weather we had been getting in Boston the week before. The blueberries were in season and we enjoyed more than our share on a few hikes — a perfect snack on the trail! Despite the incredible views and inspiring hikes, I think the kids might have liked the water slides at the recreation park the most.
Kitchen remodel at Mittersill
Alex and I went up on Thursday night to tackle the kitchen so it’d be working and safe for the kids who would be joining just a short day and a half later. The most trouble arose from reusing an old sink that had a clip system that wasn’t exactly ideal with our butcher block counters. Luckily, we got it figured out after wrestling with it for many hours — more than we should have!
The rest of the items went up and completed smoothly. The weekend was a nice one except for a little scare when Peanut decided to wander off and not come when called. We spent a while looking for the dog.
