Rebecca wanted to go to New York City for her eighth birthday. We thought it sounded like a good idea and more interesting than some other options. Of course, she wanted to make sure we could stop in the American Girl store while we were there. We did, but we were also able to take the kids to other places like the High Line, Chelsea Market, Battery Park, Museum of Natural History, Times Square and a few places. Everyone had fun and the weather was great for spring!
I didn’t carry the camera around everywhere the whole time, but did get a few shots nonetheless! Maybe next time we go to some art museums as well. We didn’t bother pushing our luck on this trip.

We’ve had quite a bit of snow this winter. Most of it came with just a few storms, like the last one we just had. Not to let all that good snow go to waste, I spent a lot of time with the kids in the backyard making all sorts of paths, rooms and snow structures. Just digging a path in the snow gives a nice three and a half to four foot high wall! The kids had fun making and playing in it. And by the looks of things, the snow will be around for a while so they’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it!

Alex and I went up on Thursday night to tackle the kitchen so it’d be working and safe for the kids who would be joining just a short day and a half later. The most trouble arose from reusing an old sink that had a clip system that wasn’t exactly ideal with our butcher block counters. Luckily, we got it figured out after wrestling with it for many hours — more than we should have!
The rest of the items went up and completed smoothly. The weekend was a nice one except for a little scare when Peanut decided to wander off and not come when called. We spent a while looking for the dog.
